Two things
you can do to protect you and your family. Install smoke alarms on every level of
your home, and making sure everyone sleeps with the bedroom door closed.
Smoke alarms have long proven to be a life saver. But did you know that the simple act of closing your bedroom door while
you are sleeping can save your life?
A combination of SMOKE ALARMS and a Home Escape Plan can save
you from becoming a victim of FIRE. Installing smoke alarms on every level of your home and designing an escape plan with
at least two ways out of every room in your home, along with sleeping with your bedroom doors closed are the best ways to
protect your family from the destruction of fire. The reduction of fire fatalities continues to be the primary concern of The Philadelphia
Fire Department. Each year we strive to reduce the number of fatalities due to fire in our city, and while progress has been
made, the total number of fatalities due to fire remains far to high! To be successful in reducing the number of fire deaths
and to further reduce all fires in Philadelphia requires a city wide effort. We must have your help!Safety is largely a personal responsibility and while the Fire Department
can help to protect your family, we cannot replace the most important factor - YOU. By working together, we can reduce the number of fire fatalities in your community and the entire city. By going through
your home, using the fire safety checklist link on this page. Checking your smoke alarms weekly, and practicing your home
escape plan at least twice a year. We can reduce the number of fire deaths in Philadelphia
